SALES & PROJECT MANAGER

IN SUSTAINABLE CLEAN COOKING BUSINESS
in Nampula, Mozambique

BACKGROUND

Pamoja Cleantech AB is a Swedish for-profit social enterprise that provides sustainable renewable energy-based solutions for base of the pyramid (BOP) market. Pamoja’s mission is to provide affordable modern energy to empower local entrepreneurs in rural communities through decentralized renewable energy.

Based on the experience acquired in East Africa and India, Pamoja joined forces with local NGO AMPCM to accelerate the provision of modern, off-grid energy solutions to the BOP market in Mozambique. Pamoja is working together with leading cashew nut processors in the area around Nampula to make use of the vast quantities of cashew nut shell residue that are currently being burnt for no use across Mozambique. The shell residue can be used with minor processing in efficient, Tier 4, gasification stoves to replace climate- and health-hazardous charcoal and firewood for household cooking while simultaneously providing the basic and much-needed energy services such as lighting and phone-charging directly from the stove using a small solar panel and a stove integrated lithium-iron-phosphate battery with USB-port.

The concept of providing portable, credit-based energy solutions to off-grid areas using locally available waste material is perfectly aligned with state-of-the-art knowledge on how to reach the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG7) of clean energy access to everyone by 2030. Our focus is with delivering impact to the poorest people, towards portable, off-grid products that can leapfrog the situation for the base of the pyramid and enable faster and cheaper delivery of impact to the ones that needs it the most.

Pamoja is recruiting a Sales and Project Manager based in Nampula, Mozambique, who will be in charge of Sales, Project Management and Administration. In case of successful collaboration, the Sales and Project Manager will have the opportunity to progressively move to a leadership position in the Management Board of the company.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • The Sales & Project Manager will primarily be responsible of Sales, Customer Relationship Management and Business development.
  • The Sales & Project Manager will primarily be in charge of developing and leading a team of Operation Managers, Sales Persons and a network of Agents.
  • The Sales & Project Manager will also be involved in the administration, finances and operations of the local company and projects that the company is involved in including delivery of project objectives, KPIs, reports and CRM contents.
  • The Sales & Project Manager will secondly be involved in Project reporting.
  • The Sales & Project Manager will work hand-in-hand with the local and the Swedish teams. He/She will report on Pamoja Moçambique’s operations, sales and finances to the Board of Pamoja Cleantech AB at the end of every month.

The Employment will be a full-time employment with a probationary period of six (6) months and a competitive salary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must possess as Minimum, the following requirements:

  • Bachelor in Business or Engineering from a recognized University
  • Must have at least 5 years of working experience in Management or Sales positions
  • Must have relevant experience in Management and Business Administration
  • Must be proficient with the use of IT tools.

Additional Requirements:

  • An in-depth knowledge of international innovation ecosystems is essential, ideally cross sectorial, with an acumen or experience in global sustainable development goals
  • Previous experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software such as Salesforce
  • Good knowledge of setting-up Distribution strategy and Marketing
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning and resource allocation)
  • Professional English and Portuguese (written and spoken)
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation and inventory.
  • Entrepreneurial, Self-driven, strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Relevant field experience or experience in working in Sub-Saharan Africa is highly valued.
